Austin has long been in the forefront of creative visioning, and this is demonstrated perfectly by its Mueller Development project. After a 711-acre tract was left vacant when the Robert Mueller Municipal Airport was relocated in 1999, the city decided to start moving toward transforming the area to a mixed-use urban village. When fully completed, the results should be simply amazing.
A Flagship of Modern Neighborhoods
With the Mueller project, the city plans to help lead the way in modern urban development. While providing all of the amenities expected in a neighborhood, the development will also focus on being pedestrian-friendly. Since the community will be located only three miles northwest of downtown Austin, its residents will also be able to easily reach and enjoy all that the city has to offer. In all, the city expects to add 10,000 homes to area. Even with all of the homes being placed in the area, over 100 acres will be left as parks and greenbelt.
